Spam Increase?

Is it just me? Or has anyone else seen a noticeable up-turn in spam in the last couple weeks?

Because I use nifty, Bayesian spam filtering (courtesy of SpamSieve), at least I don't have to look at it right in my inbox. But I do check my spam folder for false positives from time to time, and so I've noticed that the daily number of spam items has perhaps doubled or even tripled in the last 10 days or so.

They also seem to have changed character: Lots more openly sexual spam, lots more offers of immigration green cards.

(Needless to say, I wouldn't be asking this if I had recently published an email address somewhere. As far as I know, no public acccess to my email presence has changed in any way.)

Right. My "Junk E-mail" folder has bulged over the last three weeks also. And I haven't changed the availability of my email address, either.

Hey Brian! Speaking of changing the availability of your email address. I added edpsych.net's URL to your last to comments so that your email address wouldn't be published. (If you enter both email & URL when commenting, it hides your email.)

I have also noticed. Here at IV, I'm getting about 30 a day in my inbox (After being spam filtered). Which is way higher than it used to be. Let me know if you want to know where to buy R-O-L-E-X replica "luxury" w a t ch e s.

Dave reports that his spam is up, too. I wonder what the explanation is. Has anyone seen anything written about this? I wonder if we should ask Slashdot.

Thanks, Nathan! I wondered how I could hide my email address and be cool like you.

No, I'm happy with the watch I have, thanks. If you want some personalized ornaments let me know and I'll hook you up--but hurry, because time is limited.
